Laura Yoro was born in 1985 in Bangui (Central African Republic). She initially studied textile design in Paris at the School of Arts & Design (ENSAAMA). Then she specialized in costume design and gained her first experience in this field at the Opéra Bastille in Paris and the Théâtre National du Nord in Lille, among others. During her subsequent master’s degree in « Aesthetics of Contemporary Art » at the University III of Lille, she created her work « The Costume as Sculpture », a creative experiment in fascinating materials inspired by masters such as Oskar Schlemmer, Tadeusz Kantor and Jan Fabre, in the context of various exhibitions in France. Since 2014 Laura Yoro lives in Stuttgart, from where she works as a costume designer for theater, dance and film. Some of her recent collaborations in this field were with the Residenztheater in Munich, the Deutsches Theater Göttingen, the Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart, the Chamber Orchestra of Stuttgart, the Theatersommer and the Filmakademie in Ludwigsburg, and for the Theater Le Garage in Roubaix, France.
